After browsing a few of my favorite online stores, magazines and street style blogs; along with my very own closet, I decided that camouflage was definitely something I’ve been swooning over for quite some time and since it has been appearing on the streets from Milan and Paris to New York splattered on almost anything, it definitely deserves the title as the Print of the Moment. Now even though living in the Caribbean where’s it’s been banned and is deemed as illegal and offensive to wear, I’ve seen a few fashion rebels being bold enough to try it, incorporating it in outfits either worn at night or for a style shoot.

In all honesty, it feels as though a wave of camo completely took over Pitti Uomo this season, just in time for the industry’s major patterns and prints crave for Spring/Summer 2012 and surprisingly for Fall/Winter 2012. A plethora of camo has been spilling down runways from Tommy Hilfiger and on the collections of the likes of Comme Des Garçons.

Just a day ago, design master-mind and one of my current favorites, Todd Lynn, showcased his Fall 2012 womenswear collection in London. Without one doubt in my mind, I’m ready to knight this collection as my all-time favorite this season, as it boasts an overall simplistic look, and features an amazing array of strong suiting, perfect drapery, a bit of color and my favorite of all for fall… fur! I knew that London Fashion Week would have been as inspiring to me as it always is, since it brings a great variety of innovative designers, who bring nothing but authentic style and fresh ideas to the runway. The suits at Todd Lynn were stunning in cut and look, while the leather cut pieces were done, showing his great attention to detail. A few outfits were gorgeously topped off by the addition of a Jacquard finished fabric, that came in a nice ocher brown. The shoes made every look complete, with their fierce and striking touch of velvet. My favorite look of the show, would have to be the burnt orange top, which was accentuated with a fur shawl and completed by a lovely pair of pants, in the Jacquard fabric that I mentioned before, all creating an effortlessly perfect fall look. The strong yet minimal grey jackets, which easily turned to dresses, also caught my eye. This collection is definitely one to stand out, and although it didn’t move to far away from Lynn’s usual vein, it was definitely a stunning and strong collection. Fall seems to be the new spring, I’ve been seeing so much great prints, patterns and color, unlike the conventional blacks and greys. Paul Smith Fall 2012 proved to be another great collection, after it sauntered down the runway yesterday at London Fashion Week. Lots of tailoring and gorgeous silhouettes made the collection complete, and with edgy dying techniques, prints and velvet added to the boom of the collection. Apart from the Todd Lynn show which I’d be posting a little later today, Paul Smith is definitely one of my favourites. Check out the show photos after the jump.

Excuse me for being such a “bad blogger,” but during the last few days it feels like so much has happened, and the majority of things went wrong. New York Fashion Week, which ends in two days should have been the highlight of my week; however, I have been incredibly uninspired and I really don’t know how much boring this fall can get.  I was specially invited to a few great shows, like Katya Leonovich and Mathieu Mirano to name a few, but last night, I was automatically made happy, since the Marc Jacobs Fall 2012 collection was about to saunter down the runway. Now I don’t know about you, but I’ve got this undying love for all things that have Marc’s name attached to it, and in addition, they all just seem to inspire me. The womenswear collection last night was nothing but pure awesomeness, and brought an electrifying hype through a series of unconventional looks. Marc, being inspired by two outrageous icons, Lynn Yaeger and Anna Piaggi, delivered a collection of mad color, filled with bold mink hats, perfect wool coats, patchwork skirts over cropped pants, and big-buckled pilgrim-like shoes. Backed by an off-white broken castle – which decorated the already large runway space – models like Lindsey Wixson and Joan Smalls carried looks which were highlighted by stunning colors, as well as prints and patterns, like paisley.

Now, although I thought life would have been such a drag without my computer, I actually feel at peace, reading and writing more, and periodically checking in on my ‘social life,’ with my iPad or phone. I have a feeling that God is somehow teaching me a lesson, and showing me how much I can be productive without my laptop, rather than being in front of its bright, eye-damaging screen, 24 hours a day. Being on the international fashion scene at the age of 18 is really nothing new for a model. However, bringing a reinvented youthfulness and pure state of innocence would have to be given to Select Model O’Shea Robertson. Robertson got started with his modeling career, after being scouted on the bus home from school, by fellow model Ash Stymest. Being the epitome of cool, from name straight to look, O’Shea garnered attention quicker than expected and has risen to attaining a top spot among male models in the industry today. He’s appeared in a variety of magazine spreads, and having walked for Calvin Klein, G Star Raw, Versace and Givenchy, just to name a few, this young black man is steaming up the tracks and certainly isn’t planning on slowing down any time soon. Sometime between the menswear shows in Milan and Paris, I got time to chat with O’Shea about his life as a model, as well as his plans for the future.

How old are you, and where are you originally from?

As you know, I’m 18 and I’m originally from London. Was born in north, raised in south & now live in the north again.

When and how did you get into modeling?

It was the last day of my GCSE’s in 2009, and I was on the bus back from high school, heading home. My mates were heading to play rugby in the park, so I decided to join them, and I got onto the bus to go to the park. On the bus, Ash Stymest approached me and said “Mate, you’re a good looking lad. You should be a model,” then handed me a card with Select Model Management’s number on it. I was honestly more embarrassed than anything and forgot about it until early 2010. I then decided to go in and give it a shot, and it seems to have worked.

Did you always have an interest in modeling or fashion at all?

No, not really. It was actually probably the last thing on my mind.

What would you have been doing then, if you hadn’t become a model?

I was actually planning to become a rugby player.

Sounds fun! Now that you’re a model then, what do you enjoy most about it?

I love the chilled lifestyle the most; I can’t actually think of a job that suits me better. I love the travelling and I love the adrenaline pump I get just before walking out for a show.

What shows did you enjoy walking for most this past season?

I really enjoyed Hermes, because it was luxury and chilled, and also because I had never done it before. It was also nice to walk for Givenchy again.

I heard you talking about DSquared², did you want to walk for the label’s Fall 2012 show?

Yes, I did actually! I had to run to the casting in Milan during my lunch break at the Versace fitting. Having seen the final show, I really loved the whole school kids/classroom concept, and smoking on the runway and what not.

Having shot with a ton of fashion photographers, do you have any favorites?

I like shooting with Nick Treviss. He’s a really fun and encouraging photographer. Of course Damon Baker, because I love black and white photography, and he is the next generation of photographer.

Do you have any favorite models that may inspire you, or that you look up to?

If I had to have a role model for modeling, it would have to be David Agbodji. From making history with Calvin Klein, to being a real guy and an innovative model/photographer. I went for lunch with him in Milan and Paris this season. The talks we had and the advice I got from him was great. He’s really cool guy.

He definitely is, we chatted for a bit back in 2011, and I still rank him in my top 5 favorite male models. Anyway, what one female model would you give anything to work with during your modeling
career?

I would love to work with Joan Smalls. I have already walked with her twice for Givenchy, but it would be great to shoot with her. Actually, I reckon I would just stare at her. She’s beautiful! #CRUSH

Haha, I couldn’t agree with you more. On the other side of things, what don’t you like about being a model?

The main thing I hate about modeling is how long it takes to get paid. Like some client take 3 months to pay, and I’ve even experienced a client who took 8 months to pay! Definitely not cool.

Wow, some people forget that there are always disadvantages. Now my final question to you is, if your house caught on fire, give me 5 things you’d need to pick up.

I’d definitely take my portrait that I got from Puma, my TV, my Macbook, my Laser and my Beats by Dre.

Wait, I’ve been hearing about this “laser,” but what does it do? Kill people? Haha

Haha, it just lights up, and burns shizz.
