Model Of The Moment

Model Of The Moment | Graham Scaife

Change for me is always a good thing. If at first it’s not accepted, coming to terms with change is something that is inevitable. Besides the little life lesson those words could give, my Model Profile column will now be “Model Of The Moment”. I know that’s nothing major, but I just felt as though I should officially mention it. I initially chose Model Profile because it’s the simplest thing, but it’s honestly so used!

Anyway, I got the opportunity to talk to someone whom I first discovered on the Daily Duo of Models.com. Graham Scaife is his name, and his perfect looks were more than recognizable. Standing 6 feet tall, the New Moston, Manchester native is certainly off to a good start in the industry. At a shocking age of 17, Graham has been so far signed to Boss Model Management, as well as Nevs Models London. Apart from me almost passing out when he mentioned his age, I was glad to see that at such a young age, he had his goals as his focus, especially his education at Hopwood Hall College.

How old are you, and where are you from?

I am 17 and I’m from New Moston, Manchester.

17? Okay, now I feel old! Haha. How did your career as a model begin?

Haha! I started my career walking through Manchester. I got asked to model for MIX-D modeling competition, which is a competition for mix-race people. I felt a bit silly in front of my friends, but I took a few pictures anyway and I ended up making it to the top 10 boys! I went on to win the competition which got me a contract with Boss Model Management.

Did you always want to become a model?

NO! Not at all! I’m not big-headed, I never looked in the mirror and thought that I was fit and should become a model. I actually took the pictures thinking nothing would come out of it, but I’m the type of person to take opportunities when they come my way and modeling is a fantastic opportunity.

What do you consider so far as your biggest life achievement?

Oooo this is a hard one… I would say modeling at London Fashion week was my biggest achievement so far. That was the first time I really got noticed in modeling and the feeling I got from seeing myself in newspapers was truly AMAZING!

What about your challenges? Have you had any in the industry?

My biggest challenge in the industry is trying to balance college and modeling together. This year it’s been really hard because only a few months ago I was not earning any money from modeling, since I didn’t have many pictures in my portfolio, so I had to go back and forth from London on the coach while I was in college three days a week. That was horrible! I was spending 13 hours on the coach in one day, and that was every time I went up. But I enjoy the experience of London and I got great pictures back.

I for one think that you would be a great Givenchy model. Are you interested in working with any particular designer labels or magazines?

I would love to model for Givenchy! I have high ambitions in modeling, so I aim to work for all the top designers and magazines. I don’t see the point in doing something if you’re not going to try to make the most of it.

How did you feel about your appearance in GQ Style?

When I first found out, I didn’t even know what GQ was. I wasn’t much of a magazine guy, but when I got told how big it was, I was in shock and at the same time, honored. I just thought I better not do anything stupid to mess it up.

How do you feel about London’s upcoming menswear fashion week Spring/Summer 13?

I can’t wait for it! I’m going down to London to cast so I will hopefully get a few shows.

Great! I know you will get some for sure! So my last question: what are a few things you enjoy doing, and things you treasure the most?

I really enjoy playing football. I represented Manchester for 2 years playing against other cities around England and now I just play for fun with a local team of friends. If I had to say what I treasure most it would have to be my money. I’m really tight with it. I organize how to spend every penny and make it last as long as possible. I even try to con my mum to get more money out of her, but it doesn’t work, because she’s worse than me. Opps! I hope she doesn’t see this. Haha!

O’Shea Robertson : Model Profile

Being on the international fashion scene at the age of 18 is really nothing new for a model. However, bringing a reinvented youthfulness and pure state of innocence would have to be given to Select Model O’Shea Robertson. Robertson got started with his modeling career, after being scouted on the bus home from school, by fellow model Ash Stymest. Being the epitome of cool, from name straight to look, O’Shea garnered attention quicker than expected and has risen to attaining a top spot among male models in the industry today. He’s appeared in a variety of magazine spreads, and having walked for Calvin Klein, G Star Raw, Versace and Givenchy, just to name a few, this young black man is steaming up the tracks and certainly isn’t planning on slowing down any time soon. Sometime between the menswear shows in Milan and Paris, I got time to chat with O’Shea about his life as a model, as well as his plans for the future.

Anthon Wellsjö : Model Profile

Known to the world of fashion as one of those models with the perfect look, the flawless Anthon Wellsjö, has become more than an icon both on and off the runway. The Swedish model with his blue eyes and striking facial structure, has been plastered across the pages of magazines like Numero Homme, Vogue Hommes International, Attitude Magazine and 10 Men Magazine, just to name a few. Having been the face of Gucci and Balmain, Anthon has walked the runways of many designers including Marc Jacobs, Roberto Cavalli, John Galliano, Kris Van Assche, Ann Demeulemeester and tons more. However, the stunning model certainly doesn’t have his eyes set on modelling alone, but on a music career as well. Signed to agencies including Soul Artist New York, Ford Europe and Models.1 London, the talented beau-homme is off to a great start in his career. I got the opportunity to go behind the face a bit, and get an exclusive look into the life of the man holding rank 21 on the Top 50 Male models list, by Models.com.

Remi Alade-Chester : Model Profile

Born and raised in the city of Lagos, in Nigeria, Remi Alade-Chester is certainly on my “Ones to Watch” list. Living in his hometown til the age of eleven, at which point he migrated to California with his immediate family, Remi began a new life on his continuous journey to success. Standing at 6’1, the power-house model with his sculpted physique, flawless skin and a striking face, makes a bold statement.

Remi began modelling around his 20th birthday, which makes it a 2 year career thus far, since he is now 22. Interestingly accelerating through the model industry, Remi gained enough prominence to walk the runway for the Fall 2011 menswear collection of Parisian fashion house Givenchy. Although his fast growth has been a major curve ball, he really could not have had it another way. Remi is currently signed with Vision LA,  LA Models Runway, and his mother agency based here in Barbados, Gadal Model Management.  ”One major accomplishment for me was being able to finish my last few years at University of California, San Diego, while tackling the travels that came along the new lifestyle as a model; but of course I do not plan to stop there.”

Dudley O’Shaughnessy : Model Profile

Dudley may not be the biggest model the world, but as said by Models.com, he is definitely ‘One to Watch.’  With a stunning facial structure, a great physique and a striking pair of eyes, the London born model who stands at 6 feet tall, is in the running to become something greater than he probably thinks. Signed with NEXT Model Management in London, Dudley, like another Rob Evans of the model world, is an Olympic boxer, and has thus far been quite successful in his sporting career. No stranger to London Fashion Week, Dudley has walked for Jean-Pierre Braganza, as well as for Courtney Mc at the Royal College of Art Masters show. Appearing in a spread with David Gandy, he has also been a face for Stone Island and Fred Perry. Gladly, I got the opportunity to chat with Dudley about his pass successes, and also his future to come. With his first words being, “Your blog is wicked!” I was more than appreciative of his humble character, charming demeanor and fun personality.

So Dudley, when did you start modelling?

Well when I got scouted I didn’t really start since I was very shy and timid and had my eye more on the boxing scene, but slowly I got into it and started properly around mid 2009.

Did you have any interest whatsoever in fashion before you began?

[Laughs]I didn’t even know what fashion was! None what so ever, all I knew about was tracksuits.

[Laughs] So how do you manage both modelling and boxing?

Starting modelling kinda helped me in the boxing ring as I used to just stand in the centre of the ring & have a war, and end up coming out with a face the colour of a rainbow, so over time I realised that

Sebastian Sauvé : Model Profile

After not doing a Model Profile interview in quite some time, I decided to get back to the drawing board, and target some of my favorite model friends, and top models in the industry.

Sebastian, along with his chiseled face and striking lips, has never failed to garner the attention of fashion enthusiasts, casting directors or agents, and with a great model history his rapid growth is definitely not being overlooked as he progresses in the industry. Standing at a height of 6’2″, he was born in Waterford, Michigan and at 22 years old, he’s most certainly off to a good start in his career.  Mainly represented by Premier London, Sebastian is also signed to Why Not in Milan, Major Model Management in Paris, VIVA in Berlin, IMM in Brussels, Soul Artist in New York, and is also ranked number 30 on Models.com’s Top 50 Male Models List. Luckily, I got a chance to chat with the amazing model, whom I now know to be incredibly funny, and uber-cool.

How did your modelling career begin?

This guy named Scott Pollicino, whom I met while staying in this youth hostel towards the end of my Central American travels just before starting University, asked if I ever thought I could be a model. I said that’s crazy talk, and only my mom thinks that. He said to me that he thinks I have a good chance and got me into a casting through some friends of his in NYC, with an agency in LA who I had to turn down because of University. But through their recommendation, I went to Premier in London one day and then it all began…

Robert Evans : Model Profile

Popularly known for his exclusive appearance on the Spring 2011 runway of fashion house Givenchy, rocking the life out of their leopard print menswear skirt, Robert James Evans is said to be the next up and coming male supermodel. Wholeheartedly, I agree with this statement, and I definitely believe that Rob’s flawless and well structured face and body will be appearing much more on tons of magazine spreads and on the runways of many major designer labels. After one look at this man, whom standing at 6’3″, having a chest of 42″, a neck of 16″ and a size 32 waist, one cannot forget his striking looks and not far from perfect physique which is incomparable to any other. Born in Banbury, Oxfordshire, Rob Evans as he is informally known is 23 years old and is an avid boxer and a champion to many. “While boxing in my local  gym in Banbury, like I do everyday”, he said, “someone came to me and said that they would like to shoot me, cause they think I could become a model.” Of course he said yes, and he is now off to being the supermodel that he was destined to be. With his kind spirit, amazing look and cool English accent, he continues to grace the pages of many fashion blogs and shoot with prominent photographers like Tarrice Love and more recently Joseph Bleu. Between this Fall/Winter season and last Spring 2011 season, he has been seen walking in both the shows of Givenchy and in S/S of Jeremy Scott. Currently represented by
