Why I LOVE Balenciaga S/S 2012

Shopping has already begun for the highly anticipated Spring/Summer 2012 season. Trend reports are rolling out, and after a ton of  AMAZING collections walked the runway, featuring bold colour and a great deal of prints, fashion lovers around the world are ready to rock the most amazing pieces on the street, for the upcoming season. Balenciaga Spring/Summer 2012 was always a favourite of mine from the moment it was showcased in Paris; furthermore capturing my attention while worn by Anna Dello Russo. Apart from a few benches failing, the collection definitely made up for the lost and was an instant winner, with its rigid, strong silhouettes and edgy yet playful designs. Carrying an overall couture appeal, alike that of a few other season collections, the accessories that clad models hands, to the shoes, the bags and beautifully vast hats all screamed perfection! Nicolas Ghesquière surely knows how to pull together a major collection, even after pulling inspiration from the 1967 Balenciaga bride. Nothing beats greatness, and in my opinion, this collection is definitely one to be called great.

Givenchy: The Big Match | MFF Magazine

So you can blame my busy lifestyle, for not allowing me to post the Givenchy Fall 2012 collection review, but I think that by now, everyone understands how amazing it is. Creative Director Riccardo Tisci, being inspired by the American flag and the minotaur created an incredibly edgy collection that featured a spew of star embellishments, as well as models rocking bold and outrageously beautiful nose-rings. Although my classic style appeal disallows me from loving the collection enough to wear it, I am truly inspired by its flawless look, as well as its iconic feel. Today I stumbled upon yet another amazing editorial, that perfectly translates all that Tisci’s collection means, unto the pages of MFF Magazine. Male models Jeff Thomas, Sebastian Slomkowski, Alex Sanchez, Rodrigo S. and Matthieu Inglese, join their female counterpart Katya Riabynikina, clad in the browns, blacks and blues of the Givenchy’s Fall 2012 collection, for a fierce and striking editorial spread. Entitled The Big Match, the group poses lifeless, backed by a basketball court and a vintage car. The spread was shot by none other than Italian photographer Oskar Cecere and directed by MFF’s fashion editor, Stefano Roncato.

Marni for H&M | The Lookbook

Okay, I know that I’m a bit late with this post, but I’ve been so busy lately, and I’ve barely had to time to check my email – which in itself is a major mess! I’ve been trying to organize myself after losing all data on my last computer, and it’s been more than a task. I just noticed how much I like the latest collaboration from H&M, which will be hitting stores as early as next month. In all honesty, H&M’s collaborations just keep getting better and better, and after their recent Versace x H&M collection, the Marni collaboration is PERFECT for Spring/Summer 2012. With a plethora of patterns and a slew of colors, both man and woman are handled perfectly, provided with pieces from sunglasses and accessories, to t-shirts, dresses, trousers, leggings and parkas. More and more people are becoming big fans of H&M’s ever-growing collaborative efforts, and after seeing fellow blogger Pelayo Diaz in his all-yellow ensemble, I am ready to splurge! I have plans of posting the Official Price List to my Facebook page later, so go on and like it.

Trend Report | A Sea of Camouflage

Being an incredibly organized blogger, who takes all article columns seriously, I never thought that it would have been possible for me to forget my post column “Editor’s Pick.” I only remembered about it, while I was questioning a friend and member of my creative team about what I should post this week. Nonetheless, another one is on its way, and I’m sure you will love it!. Being the first Trend Report for the year 2012, it was pretty hard to decide what I’d talk about, especially since my current list of “Obsessions & Loves” is pretty long.

After browsing a few of my favorite online stores, magazines and street style blogs; along with my very own closet, I decided that camouflage was definitely something I’ve been swooning over for quite some time and since it has been appearing on the streets from Milan and Paris to New York splattered on almost anything, it definitely deserves the title as the Print of the Moment. Now even though living in the Caribbean where’s it’s been banned and is deemed as illegal and offensive to wear, I’ve seen a few fashion rebels being bold enough to try it, incorporating it in outfits either worn at night or for a style shoot.

In all honesty, it feels as though a wave of camo completely took over Pitti Uomo this season, just in time for the industry’s major patterns and prints crave for Spring/Summer 2012 and surprisingly for Fall/Winter 2012. A plethora of camo has been spilling down runways from Tommy Hilfiger and on the collections of the likes of Comme Des Garçons.

Fernando Cabral for Open Lab

Armando and Fernando Cabral are the new it-boys of fashion. The two brothers are both striking and smooth in look, and have been appearing in a spew of amazing editorial spreads lately. I happily stumbled upon an editorial with Fernando today, shot by Whalen Bryce and styled by Donald Hicks for independent fashion and art magazine, Open Lab. I’ve been really happy lately, after London Fashion Week and all its amazing street style which left me completely blown away and inspired. The pieces captured in this editorial boasts a ton of features that have all left my jaws dropped, like the architectural lines, the drapery, the exaggerated shoulders, and the overall dark, gloomy and edginess of the spread.

Todd Lynn | London Fashion Week Fall 2012

Just a day ago, design master-mind and one of my current favorites, Todd Lynn, showcased his Fall 2012 womenswear collection in London. Without one doubt in my mind, I’m ready to knight this collection as my all-time favorite this season, as it boasts an overall simplistic look, and features an amazing array of strong suiting, perfect drapery, a bit of color and my favorite of all for fall… fur! I knew that London Fashion Week would have been as inspiring to me as it always is, since it brings a great variety of innovative designers, who bring nothing but authentic style and fresh ideas to the runway. The suits at Todd Lynn were stunning in cut and look, while the leather cut pieces were done, showing his great attention to detail. A few outfits were gorgeously topped off by the addition of a Jacquard finished fabric, that came in a nice ocher brown. The shoes made every look complete, with their fierce and striking touch of velvet. My favorite look of the show, would have to be the burnt orange top, which was accentuated with a fur shawl and completed by a lovely pair of pants, in the Jacquard fabric that I mentioned before, all creating an effortlessly perfect fall look. The strong yet minimal grey jackets, which easily turned to dresses, also caught my eye. This collection is definitely one to stand out, and although it didn’t move to far away from Lynn’s usual vein, it was definitely a stunning and strong collection. Check out the show photos after the jump.

Paul Smith | London Fashion Week Fall 2012

Fall seems to be the new spring, I’ve been seeing so much great prints, patterns and color, unlike the conventional blacks and greys. Paul Smith Fall 2012 proved to be another great collection, after it sauntered down the runway yesterday at London Fashion Week. Lots of tailoring and gorgeous silhouettes made the collection complete, and with edgy dying techniques, prints and velvet added to the boom of the collection. Apart from the Todd Lynn show which I’d be posting a little later today, Paul Smith is definitely one of my favourites. Check out the show photos after the jump.
