Marni for H&M | The Introduction

It’s one thing when you have an amazing Versace collaborative collection, and another when just weeks after it goes on sale, the announcement is made for yet another amazing designer collection. That’s right! H&M’s lucky collaborator for next season will be none other than Italian fashion house Marni, as Creative Director Consuelo Castiglioni brings the label’s fun print-fueled energy to the Swedish retailer with a collection for both men and women that will be available worldwide, beginning March 8, 2012. I for one am incredibly excited, and I’m sure you too will be after watching the introductory video.

La Mode Street Style | Printed Bottoms

Although two days shy of its usual posting day, La Mode Street Style is back and today I’m paying homage to bold and stunning style. There’s definitely something stirring in the industry, it’s a love for wearing chinos, pants, trousers, leggings and all, covered in prints. Whether it’s a stylish gal in Isabel Marant’s tribal pants, or guys rocking floral and polka dot patterns, it shows a true sense of style and effortless versatility. From the runways that prepared us for Spring/Summer 2012, to the recent Versace x H&M collection, we’ve been seeing patterns and prints like CRAZY! Without a doubt, I’m loving this trend and I assure you that you’ll be getting some stunning photos very soon, of me in my own patterned ensemble.

A Story to Tell | Don’t Miss the Train

I can’t believe that 2011 has just one more month to go. It feels like yesterday, when it was just the beginning of the new year, and all of a sudden we’re back here again. Without a doubt, I’m so glad for all the opportunities and blessings I’ve had throughout the year, and I’m already uber-excited for some projects I’ve got planned for 2012. I’m currently taking a few days off work and school to study for my exams, which arrive as soon as December 6th. I wanna making sure that I’m prepared by dedicating myself to focusing on success. In all honesty, I wish that I could have taken a quick trip to Paris to dive into French language and culture a bit more. But I’m sure that even though I’m stuck in rainy Barbados, that I will make the best of all that I’ve accumulated this pass semester. While standing in front of the mirror this morning, I thought about all the amazing stuff planned for 2012, which I was previously discussing with my friend. One thought that came to my mind was this, “If you’re still trying to prepare for the end of 2011, you’ve already missed the train to the future.” The photos for this edition of A Story to Tell, comes from a beautiful retro spread in the November issue of Australian publication, Madison Magazine. Photographed by Carlotta Moye with styling by Rachel Wayman, Rose Smith joins male model Zac Stenmark on a train ride, clad in stunning classics from the 40′s.

Remi Alade-Chester : Model Profile

Born and raised in the city of Lagos, in Nigeria, Remi Alade-Chester is certainly on my “Ones to Watch” list. Living in his hometown til the age of eleven, at which point he migrated to California with his immediate family, Remi began a new life on his continuous journey to success. Standing at 6’1, the power-house model with his sculpted physique, flawless skin and a striking face, makes a bold statement.

Remi began modelling around his 20th birthday, which makes it a 2 year career thus far, since he is now 22. Interestingly accelerating through the model industry, Remi gained enough prominence to walk the runway for the Fall 2011 menswear collection of Parisian fashion house Givenchy. Although his fast growth has been a major curve ball, he really could not have had it another way. Remi is currently signed with Vision LA,  LA Models Runway, and his mother agency based here in Barbados, Gadal Model Management.  ”One major accomplishment for me was being able to finish my last few years at University of California, San Diego, while tackling the travels that came along the new lifestyle as a model; but of course I do not plan to stop there.”
