Lanvin Campaign | Fall 2011

By far, the best thing ever! I am in complete love with the new Lanvin Fall 2011/2012 collection whose campaign movie and campaign was shot by Steven Meisel.  To the music of Pitbull – I Know You Want Me, models Karen Elson, Raquel Zimmermann, Lowell Tautchin and Milo Spijkers, join designer Alber Elbaz to kick off the dancing party in the amazing pieces which Lanvin will be offering this season.

Those Blue Chinos…

A couple of weeks ago, I attended a show here in Barbados for the Miss World Barbados Pre-Judging of the Swimwear.  Ignoring the fact that I got there about 30 minutes late, it was overall a great show, and I must say congratulations to the top three girls so far, who proved that they deserved their titles.  Pertaining to my outfit, I wore my new favorite chinos which I got from Topman, along with a quite colorful ensemble.  I’ve notice that Blue Chinos, have become incredibly popular and are now an essential must-have in a guy’s closet. I remember stumbling upon a poll a couple of weeks ago which questioned the most coveted colored in chinos, and although I selected Red which I could say is my favorite color, Blue came out on top.  With prices and quality varying, here are my favorites from H&M, Asos, Topman and Mr. Porter.

Dudley O’Shaughnessy : Model Profile

Dudley may not be the biggest model the world, but as said by Models.com, he is definitely ‘One to Watch.’  With a stunning facial structure, a great physique and a striking pair of eyes, the London born model who stands at 6 feet tall, is in the running to become something greater than he probably thinks. Signed with NEXT Model Management in London, Dudley, like another Rob Evans of the model world, is an Olympic boxer, and has thus far been quite successful in his sporting career. No stranger to London Fashion Week, Dudley has walked for Jean-Pierre Braganza, as well as for Courtney Mc at the Royal College of Art Masters show. Appearing in a spread with David Gandy, he has also been a face for Stone Island and Fred Perry. Gladly, I got the opportunity to chat with Dudley about his pass successes, and also his future to come. With his first words being, “Your blog is wicked!” I was more than appreciative of his humble character, charming demeanor and fun personality.

So Dudley, when did you start modelling?

Well when I got scouted I didn’t really start since I was very shy and timid and had my eye more on the boxing scene, but slowly I got into it and started properly around mid 2009.

Did you have any interest whatsoever in fashion before you began?

[Laughs]I didn’t even know what fashion was! None what so ever, all I knew about was tracksuits.

[Laughs] So how do you manage both modelling and boxing?

Starting modelling kinda helped me in the boxing ring as I used to just stand in the centre of the ring & have a war, and end up coming out with a face the colour of a rainbow, so over time I realised that

Dead Poet Society | GQ Russia September 2011

At this point in time there are a few things on my mind, and two of them would be our upcoming Fall/Winter 2011 season for which I have to prepare my closet, and also my University which starts back in just a couple of weeks.  GQ Russia surprisingly made me excited for them both after releasing a spread entitled “Dead Poet Society,” which feature models Jacques Naude, Miles Garber, Bobby Nicholas and Sam Whitman and is shot by Yu Tsai. Edited by Ekaterina Melnikova, the models appear in a classic bunch of color-washed photos wearing amazing outerwear and suits from the likes of Balmain, Dolce & Gabbana, Burberry Prorsum, and tons more labels.

Zakaria Khiare | Soulland Spring/Summer 2012

Zakaria Khiare is slowly ascending my list of favorite male models. Reason being, he’s so flawless, and all his works thus far portray him to be one of those models who are effortless, yet stunning in all they do.  The Danish model who is currently signed with Ford New York and UNIQUE Denmark, stood in front of the camera of Nikolaj Møller recently, to shoot for Soulland’s Spring/Summer 2012 collection. Directed by Marco Pedrollo and styled by Sebastian Machado, the model appears in a great deal of essentials with Soulland’s ever-rich traditional Scandinavian craftsmanship.  Standing among the flowers in a rose garden, the layers, the shoes, the classic accessories including hats and round-framed sunglasses, go for a spin, along with the upcoming season’s biggest trend; patterned button-ups. As always, Soulland reinvent their touch of class in fusion with modern-day aesthetic bringing to us yet another great collection.

Trend Report | Long Live The Chucks

Red Chuck Taylor All Star basketball shoe.

One shoe that you can always count on anyone to own, are definitely a pair of Converse.  Alike me, I believe that everyone in this world has at some point in their lives has seen the all-star Converse as being an incredibly longstanding shoe brand, which has gone through decades shaping a culture of its own. Although they never seem to die,  the shoes were not particularly popular until basketball player Chuck Taylor adopted them as his preferred shoe. He was impressed with the design, and so he became the shoe’s leading salesman. After proposing a few changes to the shoe, the shoe got its current name and Chuck Taylor’s signature on its ankle All Stars patch. One change was the switch to non-slip soles. Although classic black is the most popular, Chuck Taylor was himself known to prefer unbleached white high-tops (known in his day as simply “white”). Consumers demanded more variety from the shoe – particularly with respect to colors in order to match basketball teams – so colored and patterned shoelaces became popular to complement the two colors, blacks and whites, available before 1966. Afterwards, more colors and styles became available. Low-top or “Oxford”, high-top, and later knee-high, versions were produced. More materials were offered for the construction, including leather, suede, vinyl, denim, and hemp. Some versions of the shoe were offered without laces, held up instead by elastic. These new versions of the shoe were also co-designed by Chuck Taylor, just before his death in 1969.

Jourdan Dunn for Vogue’s September Issue

It’s great when a day after announcing your list of favorite female and male models, one of them become the subject of a big spread in Vogue’s ‘always amazing” September issue.  UK’s best, Jourdan Dunn appears clad in the best of the Fall/Winter season, from the likes of 3.1 Philip Lim, Dolce & Gabbana, Donna Karan, Tommy Hilfiger, Dior, Rick Owens and tons more all shot by David Sims and styled by Marie-Amélie Sauvé.  All the looks with utilitarian and military influence, are topped with Jourdan’s fierce and structured face which is furthermore adorned by a short straight hair-do with brown highlights. Once again, Jourdan pulls off her ‘je ne sais quoi’ look, for the amazing spread. Can’t wait to pick up my issue. :)
